Bradley Hospital, Riverside, RI
Over the years, Caputo and Wick Ltd. has assisted Lifespan in providing design, permitting, and construction administration services for buildings additions and campus improvements at the Bradley Hospital facility. In collaboration with the Client’s architect (SLAM Collaborative), we prepared the drainage and site design for a new addition to the Lauffer Building. The addition answered the need for modernized care facilities and optimized space without increasing the number of patient beds. As part of the project, we designed a fire-access road and assisted in implementing water-supply upgrades for code-compliant, fire-safety provisions campus wide. Also included was the reconfiguration and expansion of a remote staff parking lot, requiring stringent impact-minimization measures and effective stormwater BMPs due to the proximity of coastal waters regulated by CRMC. We additionally assisted in the planning and layout of playground improvements to complement the existing swimming pool and associated recreational facilities and provided the necessary site designs for a new pavilion, synthetic sports-surface basketball courts, walking trail, swings, and an improved access path and stairs. A subsequent buildings project involved drainage and site design for an outpatient addition to the Ruggles Building. Each campus improvements project was meaningfully integrated with landscape architecture objectives and designed with stormwater management features to improve existing drainage conditions. Our specific services have included wetland delineation, exploratory soils testing, topographic survey, a campus tree inventory, traffic analysis, drainage and site design, CRMC permitting, coordination with the City, survey layout, and construction administration and observation.
