Caputo and Wick Ltd. assisted the landowner of a large land parcel on Chestnut Street in Seekonk, MA with the conversion of a former, abandoned house site to a created wetland. The pre-project site was elevated substantially above abutting wetland resource areas and contained an old, stone-and-mortar house foundation and had been subject to unauthorized dumping of a tremendous amount of scrap steel, rubble, tires, and miscellaneous debris. Caputo and Wick Ltd. provided wetland delineation, land survey, mapping, design, permitting, and construction observation services for the project. MDC Excavation, Inc. conducted the debris removal, excavation, grading, seeding, and planting services. The created wetland is approximately 0.9 acres and joins seamlessly with the existing seasonally-flooded forested wetlands present along half of its perimeter. Wetlands permitting occurred through USACE, MassDEP, and the Town of Seekonk Conservation Commission.
